Filter Clean

Keeping up with your pool filter is very  important when maintaining your pool. The type of filter your system has will determine how often the filter needs cleaning.

Failure to keep up with filter cleans can cause:
  • Your pool to turn green/yellow- with 10-20 lbs. of dirt and gunk in your filter, the filter is unable to properly filter your pool water which can cause algae outbreaks and poor circulation.
  • The risk of filter parts breaking- with the high pressure inside of your filter, you are at risk of causing damage to the inside parts or the filter tank itself.
  • The life of your filter pump motor to lessen- with a dirty filter, the pump has to work harder to pump the water through the gunk in the filter which can lessen the life of the pump motor.
  • Higher electricity bills-with a dirty filter, the pump draws more amps when running.  After a filter clean is performed, the pressure lessens which increases the flow through the filter causing the pump to draw fewer amps or power.
  • Your filter warranty to be voided- most manufactures , warranty companies, and pool builders require regular filter cleans in order to maintain the warranty on the filter. If the filter is not regularly cleaned , you are at risk of voiding  your warranty.

Diatomaceous Earth (DE)
Cost is $125.00 plus any parts needed.

Recommended to be cleaned at least every 6-8 months for proper filtration and a healthy pool environment

For DE filters we take them apart and thoroughly clean the filter elements, removing any buildup of old DE, body oils, and minerals which can clog your filter.  In addition, we inspect the condition of the elements to make sure there are no breaches. It is important to replace damaged parts inside of the filter to ensure the filter is functioning properly. After cleaning is completed we recharge your filter with the proper amount of DE.

Cartridges
Cost is $125.00

Depending on the size of the filter will depend on how often cleaning is recommended for proper filtration and a healthy pool environment.
  • Single cartridge systems cleaning is recommended every 1-3 months.
  • Multiple cartridge systems cleaning is recommended every 3-6 months.

For Cartridge filters we take them apart and throughly clean the filter cartridges of any build up of dirt, body oils, and minerals which can clog your filter. In addition, we inspect the condition of the cartridge. It is important to replace damaged parts inside of the filter to ensure the filter is functioning properly.

Sand
Cost varies on size

Sand filters should be chemically cleaned annually for proper filtration and a healthy pool environment.

With this type of maintenance, the sand in your filter should last 5-10 years. Without being chemically cleaned annually, you might need to have your gravel. sand changed out as early as 3 years to achieve acceptable filtration.

When we service your sand filter, we use an acidic chemical that breaks down the build up of body oils and minerals that have accumulated in the sand. This improves the efficiency and effectiveness of the filter.
