Failure to keep up with filter cleans can cause:
- Your pool to turn green/yellow- with 10-20 lbs. of dirt and gunk in your filter, the filter is unable to properly filter your pool water which can cause algae outbreaks and poor circulation.
- The risk of filter parts breaking- with the high pressure inside of your filter, you are at risk of causing damage to the inside parts or the filter tank itself.
- The life of your filter pump motor to lessen- with a dirty filter, the pump has to work harder to pump the water through the gunk in the filter which can lessen the life of the pump motor.
- Higher electricity bills-with a dirty filter, the pump draws more amps when running. After a filter clean is performed, the pressure lessens which increases the flow through the filter causing the pump to draw fewer amps or power.
- Your filter warranty to be voided- most manufactures , warranty companies, and pool builders require regular filter cleans in order to maintain the warranty on the filter. If the filter is not regularly cleaned , you are at risk of voiding your warranty.
